I have so much extra yarn that I need to start using up before I buy more, haha. So i've been trying to come up with good small projects that will work well with whatever kind of yarn i have. First up is this cheveron hat.
I just used whatever medium (4) weight yarn I had in my bins and a size H hook to whip up this cute litte thing.
*Chain 2s in the beginning of each round do NOT count at DCs!*
1) Start with a magic circle, chain 2, then DC 14 into the circle
2) Tighten up the circle then join with a slip stitch to 1st DC, chain 2, 2 DC in same stitch, 2 DC in every stitch around
3) Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 1 DC in same stitch, *2 DC in next stitch, 1 DC in next stitch*
Repeat from * to * around
4) Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 1 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next stitch, *2 DC in next stitch 1 DC in next two stitches*
Repeat from * to * around
5) Join to 1st DC, ch 2. 1 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next two stitches, *2 DC in next stitch, 1 DC in next three stitches*
Repeat from * to * around
6) Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 1 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches, * 2 DC in next stitch, 1 DC in next four stitches*
Repeat from * to * around
7) Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 1 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in every stitch around
8 - End) Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 3 DC in same stitch, * 1 DC in next 3 stitches, DC3TOG twice, 1 DC in next 3 stitches, 3 DC in next stitch twice*
Repeat from * to * around until last stitch, 3 DC in last stitch
Repeat round 8 until the hat is as long as you would like, and change colors whenever you want; making the stripes thick or thin.
How I did it:
Round 8 -11: white
Round 12-15: black
Round 16- 19: white
Optional Round 20 (or whatever round you are on):
Join to 1st DC, ch 2, 1 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in every stitch around, slip stitch to first DC, tie off and weave you ends
Make a cute pom-pom is you please, attach it to the top of your hat and you're done! :)
